Proper naming in Pynchon

I'd always understood Frenesi to be a reference to the Artie Shaw number.
 As Andrew notes, the connotation was that of sexual excitement, if not
out-and-out delirium. Too, the song was always known as FRENesi, cuz
Anglophones don't take lightly to shifting accents around. {Remember the
ridicule heaped on TV reporters for their attempts at 'NikaRAGwa =
Nicaragua?}
