The title sounds suspiciously similar to 'An Anecdoted
Topography of Chance' by Daniel Spoerri, with Robert Filliou,
Emmett Williams, Dieter Rot, & illustrations by Topor.
Spoerri was part of the 'Nouveau Realisme' movement in
France in the early 60s and later was associated with Fluxus.
The book originally started off as a catalogue to a show -
the idea was to map the objects on Spoerri's table, with a key
listing the objects, which then provided the basis for
'anecdotes' by Spoerri and Filliou. The book was translated
and published by Dick Higgins's Something Else Press
a few lears later, with additional annotations by Emmett
Williams. A later German translation added Dieter Rot's
anecdotes.
The book has recently been republished in English by
Atlas Press in an expanded edition which includes the
material by Rot, as well as new essays and footnotes.
What can I say? It's a GREAT book - such a simple idea,
which builds up into a wonderful (and often very funny)
picture of a group of artists, a document of friendships,
a meditation of the world of objects, usw.

Hope this is the book you're looking for...
