the only earlier indication of a book Pynchon was writing was the Japanese
Insurance Adjustor which pbly made its way partly into Vineland. I dont
recall any mention of Pynchon writing about anarchism, labor strikes in
Colorado, or the Chicago world's fair earlier than near the point of AtD's
publication.
I could envision Pynchon researching labor strife for Vineland and learning
about earlier events that made it into AtD.
