i know mr. carville is gonna plotz when I say this but what reminded me
while watching the excessive nonsense that makes up most of this movie is
reading late Pynchon--two late-stage artists spinning their wheels, all
excess, mostly drivel, nothing much to say. or add to what brilliance came
before doesnt work as satire (much too serious for that) and isnt serious
enough. i think the artist has to add something than just holding up a
mirror. scorcese still fascinated by sin but what a comedown from mean
streets. maybe its just that his wife is from bay ridge in the movie where
i grew up.
anyone see american hustle? not very nice seeing pretty actors trying to
portray people you knew these bozos where based on.
